Last year, a food processing plant in Indonesia purchased a screw press sludge dewatering machine from our company to upgrade its wastewater treatment system and improve sludge handling efficiency. Due to the high organic content in food production wastewater, large amounts of sludge are generated during biological treatment.
Wastewater from food production processes typically contains high concentrations of organic matter such as proteins, carbohydrates, oils, and suspended solids. In many food industry applications, COD levels can range from 1,600 mg/L to over 15,000 mg/L, resulting in significant sludge generation after biological treatment.
Before the upgrade, the plant’s sludge contained over 95% water, leading to high transportation and disposal costs. After installing the screw press dewatering system, the sludge cake solids content increased to around 20–25%, reducing sludge volume by nearly 80%.
The new system operates continuously with low energy consumption and minimal maintenance, making it well suited for food processing wastewater treatment plants that require stable and reliable sludge management.By improving sludge dewatering efficiency, the facility has successfully reduced disposal costs while maintaining compliance with environmental discharge regulations.
